Abstract
In this research project, I chose to examine the strategies used in the growth of the fintech Revolut, namely the ’move-fast-and-break-things’ strategy that was employed at the beginning of the company. With this in mind, I decided on two Research Questions, “With the benefit of hindsight, and a focus on problems caused by low security and poor customer support, is Revolut’s ‘move fast and break things’ philosophy a good strategy for the business?” and “Will Revolut’s new fraud prevention strategies, and advances in AI help recover the lost goodwill caused by their earlier ineffective strategies?”, which guided me as I first engaged in a comprehensive Literature Review before developing a survey for Revolut’s main demographic. While the sample size of this survey was ultimately low, I was able to compare and contrast responses to discover some interesting information regarding my questions. Respondents indicated that their usage of Revolut is generally unaffected by positive or negative achievements or stories, but there may be a notable increase of usage as a result of the ‘AI Card Scam’ anti-fraud feature Revolut is using. My recommendations section explains several possible routes forward for the company
