Abstract
The town of Alta, which is located north of the polar circle, is home to the Cathedral of the Northern Lights. The circularstyled modern church was constructed in 2013 utilizing designs created by the architectural firm LINK Arkitektur, in association with Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, as the outcome of an architectural competition that was first held in 2001. The church was built to take the place of the Alta Church as the main church for the parish and deanery.
